Vitanica FemEcology is a targeted probiotic blend formulated specifically to support the maintenance of healthy vaginal immunity, pH, and ecology of microflora — addressing the vaginal microbiome as a distinct and clinically important ecosystem separate from the intestinal microbiome. While general probiotics support gut health, FemEcology uses probiotic species specifically selected for their documented colonization of the vaginal epithelium and their ability to maintain the Lactobacillus-dominant vaginal environment that is the hallmark of vaginal health.

Healthy vaginal microbiome is dominated by Lactobacillus species (primarily L. crispatus, L. reuteri, L. rhamnosus) that produce lactic acid to maintain vaginal pH below 4.5 — the acidic environment that inhibits colonization by bacterial vaginosis-associated organisms (Gardnerella, Mobiluncus, Prevotella) and Candida. Disruption of Lactobacillus dominance is the primary mechanism of both bacterial vaginosis and recurrent yeast infections.
